The quality of any service can be detected before the work starts. Allen Company Painting & Decorating has seen the operation of the other painters. Their manners, dress, tools and vehicles reveal the type of operation they run. The following information will shed some light on the differences that set us apart from other businesses.
With other painting contractors, the process usually begins with a pleasant meeting with the owner, who provides a handwritten estimate on a worksheet. But the real disappointment begins when the owner doesn’t arrive with the crew to do the actual labor. The painters sent to the job hope for the best even though they work with inferior tools, and use second-rate materials, while wearing free shirts from the paint store. Their vehicles seem to have more paint spills than their pants. You feel tired before the painting even starts, because you had to remove the blinds, drapes and furniture. Your covered furniture becomes their workbench. Smoke breaks are noticeably frequent. While they are standing on the very top of a wobbly ladder, you wonder if their insurance is current, because if it isn’t, your homeowners or business insurance will have to pay. Stepping over tools on the floor seems to be routine. A few days later, when the project is done, the owner arrives to help load up his crew and ask for payment, wondering aloud if you can make the check out to him, not his business. You notice that your trash can is full of their paper, tape and other waste. And now you have to begin putting the drapes and furniture away.
Sadly, the above scenario is just business as usual for the majority of painting companies.
In contrast, while providing a free estimate of your project, you will meet the owner of Allen Company Painting & Decorating who will give advice on colors, styles and products. The colors will be compared with your furniture, drapes and other elements of each room. Your estimate will be calculated and printed out clearly and legibly on the same visit, listing everything discussed, including the dates of the work, colors and styles in each area, products to be used, and the cost of the project including sales tax. A certificate of general liability, workmen’s’ compensation insurance and contractors license are made available for review. Once the work begins, the owner and crew arrive together in clean vehicles you won’t be embarrassed to have seen at your address. The entire crew is in clean uniforms, and never take smoke breaks, ever. Equipment and tools are brought in and remain on wheeled carts. You will be asked only to remove knick-knacks, and fragile or sentimental items. We remove all window treatments, appliances or furnishings from the area and protect them from damage. High areas are safely reached with scaffold or commercial ladders, and while we’re up there, we clean the vents and relamp the lights. Once the painting work is done, we return all window treatments and furniture where it belongs, vacuum the floors and leave any unused paint in clean, labeled containers. We haul away our trash. The owner, who has been on-site every day, verifies with you that every detail is complete. Even once you’re satisfied with the work, you will be told, “If, in a few days, you notice anything we have neglected, we will come back and make it right.” The owner calls you in a few days, just to make sure everything is right.
This is how excellence is achieved. |
